Tatiana Diaz returns to Empire City Casino

Empire City Casino by MGM Resorts announced that Tatiana Diaz has returned to Empire City as the Community Affairs Manager. Diaz formerly served as the Sales and Catering Manager at Empire City but departed that role prior to the casino being acquired by MGM Resorts. In her new position, Diaz will play a large role in implementing communications and community engagement strategies for one of the largest private employers in the region.

The iconic entertainment destination has been operating since 1899 and is well-known for its deep community ties. Diaz will continue to support and expand on those relationships through the development and implementation of strategic communication and outreach efforts. Diaz’s hiring as an addition to the public affairs team comes as the gaming destination gears up for the competitive bidding process to secure a full-scale commercial casino license.

As Manhattan's closest casino, Empire City historically welcomes over nine million annual visitors from the tri-state area and beyond, more than double the number of visitors to the iconic Statue of Liberty, of which a significant demographic is Spanish speaking. Diaz, being fluent in both English and Spanish, is uniquely qualified to further develop relationships with the ever-growing Spanish-speaking New York population, as well as tap into the extensive Spanish-language media in the region.

Prior to rejoining Empire City, Diaz served as a Resident Experience Manager where she developed and implemented resident experience programs for over 2500 residents in various luxury rental communities throughout Westchester. Diaz developed strong relationships and partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits and community stakeholders. Prior to that position, Diaz served as Empire City’s Sales & Catering Manager, handling all on-site catering events, off-site promotional events, and trade shows, and supporting the conceptualization and implementation of marketing events for top-tiered casino players. Diaz was also responsible for property rentals and filming where she built industry relationships resulting in increased filming opportunities at Empire City. She negotiated and secured contracts with large productions such as Netflix’s Friends From College, CBS’ Bull, ShowTime Billions and others.

“I’m excited to rejoin the Empire City team,” said Diaz, “This new role will allow me to use my skills and experience to support the company as it prepares to take this historic destination to its full potential. As a global industry leader, MGM Resorts provides the opportunity for me to further develop a career with no limits.”

An up-and-coming leader in the Westchester business community, Diaz has received several recognitions for her work, including being named a Business Council of Westchester’s 40 Under 40 Rising Stars in 2018 and a 914 Inc. Women in Business honoree in 2021, an award that recognizes and honors Westchester County’s leading female professionals.

Diaz symbolizes the strong culture of diversity and inclusion MGM Resorts actively cultivates. Empire City boasts a majority minority workforce, including leadership levels, and is also a proud majority female team. MGM Resorts actively recruits, engages, develops, and retains a diverse workforce while providing equitable access to employment, career growth opportunities and diverse representation across all job levels from entry level to senior leadership positions.

Diaz resides in Ossining with her husband and two children. When not working, Diaz enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and utilizing her creative skills to work on fun do-it-yourself projects.
